Five questions to answer before you plan a control-room video wall

1. Which sources will it show?
List every source with its count, resolution and refresh rate: camera feeds, dashboards, maps, video calls. The mix of sources decides which video wall controller and how much processing you need.
2. Viewing distance and seating
How far operators sit from the wall decides the right screen size and pixel pitch. Too close and LED pixels become visible; too far and small text and detail are lost.
3. Tiled LCD or LED?
Tiled LCD walls cost less per unit and offer high resolution, but the seams show. LED can be seamless and suits large sizes, but the pixel pitch must match the viewing distance, and heat and power need planning.
4. Operating workflow and layouts
Who may change what is on the wall? Do you need preset layouts that switch with one action when an incident happens? These needs shape the control system and the operator interface.
5. Reliability and maintenance
Control rooms often run for long hours. Plan power and signal redundancy, how parts are replaced, and the service access you will need later.
